MIAK
MIAK is a washed community lot from Mérida, Venezuela, grown by the small producers of the Asociación El Triángulo de los Mocotíes.
Coffee from several farms and four varieties (Caturra, Catuai, Monte Claro and Villa Nueva) comes together in one sweet, comforting cup of cacao, caramel and almond, with honey, dried fruit and a gentle warmth of spice. Its name says it plainly: many hands, many varieties, one cup.
El Triángulo de los Mocotíes
MIAK is not the work of one farm. It brings together washed coffee from small producers across Mérida, organised in the Asociación El Triángulo de los Mocotíes, each contributing coffee from their own plots.
Working together as an association lets small growers reach specialty buyers that a single small farm rarely could. For us, that is the heart of this coffee: a lot that carries the work of many families rather than a single name.
Many hands, many varieties, one cup of cacao, caramel and almond.
The association takes its name from the Mocotíes Valley, a long valley in Mérida carved by the river of the same name and part of the Lake Maracaibo basin. Between the lake and the river, the valley holds a microclimate that has produced high-altitude coffee since colonial times.
